Hey friends! What a great way to start the year, with a Gimmick Rally. Thanks Lester! Now everyone let’s have a good turn out. Remember, Lester is still our Weather chairman, I’m sure he would not be vindictive and give us an unusually rainy autocross season, but I’m not willing to push my luck, are you??? John has made sure all the other autoclubs in the area have been invited. I think this will be great for the clubs growth. I know there are many sports car owners’ that are not into speed or car control events out there. This just might be what is needed to raise our membership, which has been steadily declining. It is hard for us autocrossers to see, since our ranks seem to be growing. When I joined the club in 1991 we had 87 members, as of this month our membership stands at 58. We need to do something new to grow.

As most of you know, I’m not a mechanic. Back in January the night before our Officer’s Meeting, someone broke into my Miata, via slashing my convertible top. I ordered a new top from Moss Motors. When the top came in, the first thing stated in the installation instruction was, “Recommend that installation be done by a professional upholstery shop.” I called around and found that they wanted more for the installation than I paid for the top. Not having that kind of cash on hand, and being tired of getting rained on, I decided to tackle the job myself. It took me three days, bruised fingertips and numerous cuts and abrasions to finish the job successfully. My advice after saving over $500 is have an upholstery shop do it and bit the bullet.
