I
need your help with something. So please pay attention to what follows. At the
January planning meeting, a proposal was made and generally approved to change
the way we calculate the overall year-end Mens and Ladies Autocross champions.
In
the past, we’ve always taken everybody’s class finishing positions from each
event and then just totaled up the points. This, it is suggested, favors the
driver in a one-car class or the dominate driver in a very small or bumped
class.
So,
the proposal was made to PAX everybody’s class finishing positions from every
event and then apply these PAXed times to a points scale the same way that it’s
done for the TLAC Handicap Challenge. This way, you’re comparing every driver
against each other. An additional advantage to doing this is that it would also
give the officers a much more subjective way to nominate our Most Improved
Driver for your vote at the end of the year.
Unless
there’s a groundswell of opposition to this proposed change, it will stand for
the 2001 season. If you’ve got a problem with it, please let me or one of the
other officers know yesterday or sooner.
