REport

Hey, Gang!

Warm weather is here and that means the pace of activities is quickening rapidly. Despite a rainy morning, 22 drivers gambled that the weather would improve for Sundat afternoon (which it did) and had a great time at our May 6th autocross at South Park Mall. The lot wasn’t very big, but Gary Linde did an excellent job of making the most of it. We now have our foot in the door there and have been assured the use of a larger lot, should we decide to hold our July or August event there.

Unfortunately, we had to scrap the May 6th TSD rally. But Lester and I both figured that if we couldn’t do it RIGHT, it was better to not do it at all. We are planning to hold another rally later in the year to make up for it, so stay tuned.

It’s been a long, dry spell for the club racers, but that spell is about to break with a Regional/National at Texas World Speedway on May 26th & 27th and another on Father’s Day weekend in June.

The TLAC (Trans-Louisiana Autocross Challenge) series is off and running. Sowela hosted the first event in Lake Charles on April 29th. Red River was well-represented with 17 drivers.  Delta is next on May 20th at Belle Chase Naval Air Station. Let’s see if we can get at least 20 drivers for that one. Then it’s our turn to host the third TLAC on June 24th at Red River Raceway. Shea is designing the course and hosting the event. Kurt has agreed to take on the party. Our HQ is moving to the Ramada Inn in Bossier City. Check Delta Region website for entry forms or give me a shout if you want one mailed to you.

The Divisional series is about to kick into high gear as well, with the first event scheduled for June 9th & 10th in New Orleans. Houston Region is hosting both the second and third Divisionals at Gulf Greyhound Park on July 14th & 15th and August 11th & 12th. Entry forms are on the Sowela website or I can mail you one.

Until next time, go do something FUN (but legal) in your car!
