The Red River Region of the Sports Car Club of America is based in Shreveport, Louisiana. It encompasses all of Louisiana north of Alexandria plus the first tier of counties in Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Red River Region was first incorporated in 1956 and functioned until 1975, when it was disbanded. It reorganized in 1983, from what was then the Dixie Sports Car Club, and continues to function to this day with approximately 80 members. During its lifetime, it has been home to several National Autocross and Road Race champions. Since there is not an active road course near Shreveport, the bulk of our members are involved in SCCA Solo II or Autocross competition. We generally run at least a dozen such events every year. However, we do have a small core group of road racers who regularly travel to College Station, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; or Memphis, Tennessee to compete. |

Registration and Tech Inspection for all local Autocross events opens at 9:00 AM. There's a mandatory drivers' meeting at 10:30 AM. And the first car trips the timing lights as close to 11:00 AM as possible. Entry fee is $15 for SCCA members, $20 for non-members, and just $10 for novices. You can run as a novice up to three times or until you turn a time that's fast enough to win your respective open or ladies class - whichever comes first. Just about any 4-wheeled vehicle is eligible to compete with the exception of a few top-heavy SUVs and most Go-Karts. All competing vehicles MUST pass a FREE safety inspection by one of our Tech inspectors. Seat belts and Snell-95 or later helmets are REQUIRED for competition. Loaner helmets are available for those who don't have their own. Cars will compete one-at-a-time against the clock by class. If you do not know what class your car falls in, ask the registrar. He or she will be glad to help or will find someone who can. Rule books are available for sale at registration at most events. All cars must have car numbers and class letters on both sides. Car numbers will be a minimum of eight inches high and a minimum of 1- 1/4-inch stroke. Class letters must be between 25% and 50% of the number size, no smaller than 4 inches high, and located adjacent to the numbers. All numbers and letters must be of the same single color and typeface, and in contrast to the background color. Contrast may also be obtained using a second color for a border or field, sized at least 25% of the number stroke. All letters and numbers must be on body panels, not on windows, and only one set of numbers may be visible while the car is running. For cars entered in a Ladies’ Class the letter “L” shall follow the class letters (Example: ASL). For National, Tour, and Divisional competition, current official SCCA required decals must be displayed on each side of the vehicle in a prominent location. For Divisional, Tour, and National championship events, one official SCCA approved National sponsor identification logo must be displayed in an upright position, in a prominent location on each side of the vehicle.
