Nationwide Satellite Installation Descriptions

Standard Residential Configuration (HN7000)

  • Hughes installer will contact customer within three (3) business days after Order. Average installation time is fourteen (14) days after contact.
  • Mounting the antenna to an outside wall, first level roof, or another approved structure with Hughes standard roof/wall mounting brackets. Note: Wall mounts must not be mounted to surfaces or building materials that cannot support the wall mount (for example, stucco, aluminum siding, or vinyl siding).
  • One or two exterior cable runs with one point of entry through an exterior wall to an interior wall; and the placement of a wall jack.
  • Two (for Satellite Return) cable runs of up to 100 feet of standard RG-6 coaxial cable for connecting the antenna to the customer's PC.
  • The hardware necessary to mount and properly ground the system.
  • Conducting a cross-polarization test of the system to verify receipt of satellite signal on the installer laptop. When possible, the installer should use the customer's PC to confirm receipt of satellite signal.
  • The Installer will instruct the Customer to read and accept or decline the HughesNet Subscriber Agreement. Note: Installers are not authorized to use the customer's PC to troubleshoot software loading and/or commissioning problems. The customer must contact Hughes Technical Support should they experience software loading and/or commissioning problems. Hughes Technical Support and Hughes Installation Support phone numbers are to be provided.

Standard Commercial Configuration (HN7000-98)

  • Hughes installer will contact customer within three (3) business days after Order. Average installation time is fourteen (14) days after contact.
  • Mounting the antenna to an outside wall, rooftop, or another approved structure with Standard Hughes non-penetrating roof mount, .6 meter or 4 x 4 mount, or ground mounts.
  • One exterior cable run of dual RG-6 up to150 ft, antenna to PC, total distance, with one point of entry through an exterior wall to an interior wall, and connection to the Customer's PC.
  • For commercial locations, an existing point of entry should be used. If no point of entry exists at the commercial site the installer/distributor will contact Hughes for resolution.
  • Verification of the signal strength at the termination point.
  • Conducting a cross-polarization test of the system to verify receipt of satellite signal on the installer laptop. When possible, the installer should use the customer's PC to confirm receipt of satellite signal.
  • Commissioning the system
  • Confirming functionality as detailed in the Installation Specification.
  • The Installer will instruct the Customer to read and accept or decline the HughesNet Subscriber Agreement.

    Note: Installers are not authorized to use the customer's PC to troubleshoot software loading and/or commissioning problems. The customer must contact Hughes Technical Support should they experience software loading and/or commissioning problems.
