Dial Up: Windows Setup

For all versions of Windows, we suggest using the Internet Connection Wizard. It will setup your dial-up and Outlook Express, quickly and efficiently.

Before you begin, you will need a local access number found under Access Numbers, Your username and password for you dial-up and email account.

Note: Below is for computers with Internet Explorer version 5 and above. If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer it is suggested that you upgrade, but older versions of Internet Connection Wizard are very similar.

To load the Internet Connection Wizard:

Start at the Desktop and click on the Start button.
Go to run and click on it.

The "run" dialog box will appear.

Type "inetwiz" in the dialog box and click Ok.

Set Up Your Internet Connection

At this window, you want to select Connect using my phone lines and click on Next.

If this is the first time dial-up has been setup on this computer you may come to the Location Information window.

In the field labeled What Country/reign are you in now? select "United States of America."

Fill in your area code where it says What area (or city) code are you in now?

Click on Close when you are finished.

You may come up to this screen. If so choose Create A new dial-up connection and click on the Next button.

Internet account connection information

On this screen, leave the Area Code field blank.

For the field labeled Telephone Number you will need to fill in the access number your computer will use to dial to connect to the Internet.

Be sure the box labeled "Dial using the area code and country code" is unchecked.

Click Next

Internet account logon information

On this screen you will need to fill in User name, with your full username, e.g username@domain.tld, using all lowercase letters.

Fill in your password in the field labeled Password.

Click Next

Configuring your computer

For the Connection Name fill in "Nationwide Internet."

Click Next

Set Up Your Internet Mail Account

If you plan on using Outlook Express and need to set it up, select Yes.

If you plan on using a different mail client, or are just rebuilding the dialer, select No.

Internet Mail Account

If you already have an account setup, but need to setup a new one with us, select Create a new Internet mail account. If not, this window will not appear.

Click Next.

Your Name

In the Display Name field, fill out your first and last name, or how you would like your name to appear in the From field of sent email.

Click Next.

Internet Email Address

In the E-mail address field, fill in your email address.

Click Next.

E-mail Server Names

In the field My incoming mail server is a POP3 server. Insure you have POP3 in the field.

Mail servers, incomming and outgoing are of the form mail.domain.tld. Examples are; mail.nationwide.net, mail.theriver.com, mail.inreach.com ect. all in lowercase. This would be the last part of your email address with "mail." in front of it.

Internet Mail Login

Account name should be the first part of your email address.

Users that have their own domain, or Inreach customer will need to use their full email address for the username.

Fill in your password in the Password field.

Place a check in the Remember password box.

Click Next.

Complete Configuration

Congratulations you are finished. Click on Finish.

When you open Internet Explorer, or Outlook express the dial-up adapter should come up.
