    • The River Oaks Square Arts Center in Alexandria has several exhibits on display. Diego Larguia is showing recent works in the Bolton Davis Gallery. Resident Artists Lou Edwards and Nina Visconte are showing their recent works in the Galerie des Amis. The exhibits will be on display through October 8. For more information, call (318) 473-2670.

    • Northwestern State University's annual Art Faculty Exhibition is on display through September 30 in the Orville Hanchey Gallery. Paintings, collages and sculpture are displayed in the upstairs gallery while photography is exhibited downstairs. Faculty with work on display include Roger Chandler (photographs), Brooks DeFee (paintings), Matt DeFord (sculpture), Clyde Downs (painting) Shelton Meacham (painting), Robert Moreau (collages), Roberta Walters (photographs), Joanne Yankowski (photographs) and Michael Yankowski (sculpture and paintings). Admission to the exhibit is free and open to the public. The Gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Gallery will be closed on Labor Day.

    • The Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria will host The Compassionate Friends, Inc. Monday, October 3 in the Power Center from 6:30-8 p.m. This is an on-going support group for parents and grandparents whose child has died.     • The Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria will host a Beginner's Yoga Class for Stress Relief Monday, October 3 in the Senior Wellness Center from 4-5 p.m. This is a six-week class and the cost is $30. To pre-register, call (318) 448-6938.

    • The Rapides Parish Library and School Aids will offer a Social Studies Fair Project Workshop Saturday, October 15 at the Instructional Resource Center in the Rapides Parish School Board Office in Alexandria. Students from 4th to 8th grades will learn basic information on how to choose a project, do research and how to write the report. Time of the workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon. The workshop is free but limited to 50 participants. Parents are welcome, but only one parent per child. Reservations are required.     • The Cenla Film Society in Alexandria reviews classic films every month in the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in downtown Alexandria.     • The Audubon State Historic Site in St. Francisville offers a wide variety of activities throughout the year, including historical reenactments and more. It is also the setting for the 200-year-old Oakley House, a National Register of Historic Place, open for daily tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Audubon State Historic Site is located north of Baton Rouge on La. 965 in West Feliciana Parish.     • Chicot State Park in Ville Platte offers a wide variety of activities, including wildlife exhibits, nature hikes, canoe tours, including sessions designed specifically for children.     • The Louisiana State Arboretum in Ville Platte offers a wide variety of activities, including programs on bird watching, wildlife gardening, hiking, arts and crafts, outdoor photography, including sessions designed specifically for children.
